You recently stayed in a hotel in a large city.

The weather was very unusual

for the time of year and the heating / cooling system in the hotel was quite
inadequate.
Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter:

1. give details of what went wrong

2. explain what you had to do to overcome the problem at the time

3. say what action you would like the manager to take

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my total dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your

hotel, KayC International Hotel, in room 2004 for 3 nights. Although the room
allotted to me was quite spacious, its heating system was not working
adequately to deal with the unpredicted cold weather in that month.

As we all know, London is experiencing a very warm summer this year. As a

result, it was very hot in my room which is on the sixth floor. Because of the
extreme heat in the room, I checked into the hotel at midnight on 12th
December and straightaway went to bed. However, after turning the air
conditioner on, I realized that the room was not getting cooler and the room
temperature was peculiarly high.

After I made several complaints, a technician came and failed to do anything.

Moreover, my request to allocate me another room was turned down with the
excuse that the hotel was completely booked. Consequently, I spent sleepless
nights wearing my socks and other dresses. Therefore, when I returned home,
I found myself catching a bad cold and I am still suffering from it.

Since according to the customer grievance policy of the hotel I am eligible for
the compensation, and I suggest that you should refund me 50% of the
amount I paid.

Looking forward to a speedy resolution.

Yours faithfully,

Mai Anh
