1 TO: FULLER THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, REGISTRAR, 4/19/11
2

3 I am writing to request an official academic transcript for

4 the classes I completed at the Pasadena campus as a
5 Masters-in-Divinity student from 1997-98 et seq. Enclosed
6 is a personal check for $5.00 . I assume you need to make
7 sure it clears before you send the transcript, so I will wait
8 patiently. I continue to do my utmost for the Highest. While at Fuller Seminary
9 some of you know that I started Mustard Seed Ministries and had an office adjacent to the
10 campus for some time while also working as a “missionary” to the public schools for many
11 years. During this time I started working on Audio Bibles (i.e. audio-recording the Holy
12 Bible initially in English (Old & New Testament) and then I began doing the New
13 Testament in different languages, thus far I have completed a Tagalog Audio Bible (NT), a
14 Spanish Audio Bible (NT) and am almost finished with a Dutch Audio Bible (my ancestors
15 being Dutch, it seemed fitting to do something in Dutch), and may attempt to do a
16 Vietnamese Audio Bible next (all of these Audio Bibles I am posting online and also
17 creating Audio Bible CD’s which I use for evangelical purposes (free). My English Audio
18 Bible can be found at www.HearingTheWord.posterous.com; Spanish Audio Bible at
19 www.LaPalabraDeDios.posterous.com ; and my Dutch Audio Bible is at
20 www.DutchAudioBible.posterous.com . I have also been working on various
21 “extra-Biblical” recordings (including books of the Apocrypha), among other things. My
22 media ministry includes the above audio aspects, and also video aspects, much of which is
23 online on various video websites, intended to encourage the faithful and also reach those
24 who do not yet know Jesus Christ as Savior.
25

26 I also have a significant church blog in progress based on the many churches I periodically
27 or regularly visit, and have been enriched by the homilies and the Eucharist in many of the
28 Roman Catholic congregations and their daily mass (something that was very edifying to

2
1 me while working inside the public schools, which I finally left behind on January 20, 2011,
2 but continue to think about and pray for our public school students who continue to be
3 raised in a dangerously secular environment).
4

5 And I am STILL in but not of Southern California. Some of you know that my grandfather,
6 the late Rev. Gareth Kok came to southern Cal (Bellflower) in 1936 as a CRC pastor
7 (Christian Reformed Church) and also started Valley Christian Schools (still doing well in
8 Cerritos). Knowing the Dutch language, grandpa Kok also helped Dutch immigrants settle
9 in and find jobs mostly in the dairy farm industry.

11 Reflecting on my days at Fuller Seminary I must say some aspects were a bit more
12 contentious than I would have liked or expected given my noble intentions for being there,
13 and there are those to whom I would say ‘Shame on you’ (they know who they are, not only
14 at Fuller Seminary but outside it as well in the community) , but also appreciate those who
15 were more encouraging and supportive of me, for the sake of the Kingdom. I continue to
16 bring the Good News to people everywhere I can and will continue to build upon the
17 knowledge base I have built up over the many years of education I experienced (Calvin
18 College (academic honors) , Calvin Seminary, Fuller Seminary, et. al.) as well as the
19 experiences I have had in the mission field, both at home and abroad, including
20 Philippines, Costa Rica, Thailand, & Spain.

22 Today is Tuesday, April 19, 2011, (almost 3 pm pst) the second day of Holy Week. As we
23 approach Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, & Easter Sunday let us ALL
24 try to remember that we are ALL on the same team, hopefully working for the same
25 purpose as the worldwide Body of Christ. Amen ? I hope so. Please mail the official

7 By the way I am BETTER KNOWN

8 in ministry now as John Philip A. Vander KOK
9 (Kok is a common Dutch name. No, I am not “from” the
10 Netherlands. I was born and raised in America and had ancestors
11 who fought & died for the north in the Civil War. My late
12 grandfather Peters founded Butterball Farms (they still sell butter
13 (that goes with the breakfast hotcakes) at McDonalds around USA,
14 among other restaurants. Butterball Turkey is not my grandpa’s
15 turkey but he did sell the name to the turkey people, while retaining
16 the rights to use the name for his butter patties. As mentioned
17 above, my late grandfather Kok was a CRC pastor and founder of
18 Valley Christian Schools. My dad, Jim Kok has been in ministry all
19 his life and still works part-time, mostly on his Care & Kindness
20 projects. I am the founder of Mustard Seed Ministries and continue
21 to work on evangelical projects, some of which are mentioned above.
