Accounting students need to study data processing because it involves operations that are used
to transform data into useful information. As part of the era we are in today, business
transactions are commonly done in a computing system.
2. “Garbage in, garbage out” is a concept common to computer science and mathematics where
the quality of output is determined by the quality of the input. If an information or equation is
improperly stated, the answer is unlikely to be correct or informative. Simply telling that the
computer just processes what it is given. This is where such faulty decisions made are counted
as result of incomplete information. Since business runs on data and in order to avoid these
things to happen, data input and system should be reliable, consistent, and properly gathered.
3. Personally, I agree that accountants can help in design and production of managerial reports
because there are times where the financial accounting information that a company holds may
not be sufficient in solving a problem so managerial accounting gives managers the option of
requesting additional information with limited time constraints.
