Abstract

Urban agriculture plays role in the environment. It helps farmers supervise farmland, enhance

production costs, and minimize environmental degradation by using the optimal number of

required nutrients. The study aims to describe the knowledge of students in urban agriculture,

and to know the internal and external factors influencing students to consider urban gardening.

This study will imply quantitative survey research wherein the researchers will strive to gather

information about the different factors that affect students in considering urban gardening in their

community in this time of the pandemic.

Results:

Average number of students are aware of the best plants for soil, the amount of space plants

requires, the amount of water plants require, the number of sunshine plants require, the best

season for plants, and the best fertilizer for plants. While the peer persuasion study, the majority

of respondents are gardening because of family influence; while a smaller percentage

contemplates gardening because of friends' influence, and a neutral number believe it may be a

means to create relationships with others.

Conclusions:

The knowledge of the students about urban gardening can be described very good or excellent.

The students are influenced by their environment and own sense of likelihood. Internal factors

include interest in nature, benefits, personality and interest. While external factors include peers,

family and media influence.
