GRADE 9 2 Tier Birthday Cake

A baker gets an order for a 2 tier birthday cake in

the shape of a circle as can be seen in the picture. The cake
in the first tier has a diameter 40 cm and the second tier
has a diameter 20 cm with the same thickness.

1. What is the ratio of the volume of a small and big tier?

2. How much does it cost for making cakes with 20 cm and 40 cm for the small and big
tier diameter and 10 cm thickness for each tier. How much will it cost if the price
of 1 𝑐𝑚3 is 𝑅𝑝 15,00 ?
3. If the thickness of the small and big tier of cake is 10 cm and 15 cm , then determine
the true or false of each following statements.
