The Difference Between "Sent" and "Went"

For as much as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you
with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to
whom we gave no such  commandment: (Acts 15:24)

We must understand what it means for a person to do things of one`s own accord,
verses doing things that the Lord has told us to do.

There is a HUGE difference.

Examples

Fishing by a Word from God vs. Fishing Without a Word from God

EVENT #1

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding
around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water's edge two boats, left
there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the
one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then He sat down
and taught the people from the boat. When He had finished speaking, He said to
Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." Simon
answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught
anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." When they had done so,
they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they
signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and
filled both boats so full that they began to sink. (Luke 5:1-7)

EVENT #2

Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it
happened. Several of the disciples were there--Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the
Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.
"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they
went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Early in the morning,
Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called
out, "Fellows, have you caught any fish?" "No," they replied. Then he said, "Throw
out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get some!" So they did,
and they couldn't haul in the net because there were so many fish in it. Then the
disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, "It's the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was
the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and
headed to shore. The other disciples came ashore in the boat. They dragged in the net
full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards. (Jhn. 21:1-8)

 In both events they did the same exact activity (fishing)

 In both events they initially acted strictly of their own accord

 In both events they finally acted as they were directed by the Lord.

Though in both events they did the same exact action of fishing, it's clear in both
events, there was an initial action of " work that was done, originating of
themselves," and then finally "a work that was done, originating of the Lord"
,
Both involved work originating from two different sources.

Work Originating from Man Will Fail

So in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone. Let them go! For if their
purpose or endeavor is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will
not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."
(Acts 5:38-39)

 we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything  (Luke 5:

 "Fellows, have you caught any fish?" "No," they replied  (Jhn. 21:

 So he passed through the hill country of Ephraim and through the area around
Shalisha, but they did not find them. They went on into the district of
Shaalim, but the donkeys were not there. Then he passed through the territory
of Benjamin, but they did not find them. (1Sam. 9:4)
 She had suffered a great deal at the hand of many doctors and had spent all
she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. (Mark 5:26)

Work Originating from God Will Always Prevail

go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you
will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours." (Matt.
17:27)

Did Jesus keep a job? (We know at some point in His life He learned carpentry, but we
have no record of Him ever maintaining a job as a carpenter, or doing something else
that was job-related to provide for His needs)

If this is true, how did He eat? How did He manage to take care of Himself without a job
or being on government assistance (welfare)?

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or
contradict. (Luke 21:14)

And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. (Acts 6:10)

Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say.
Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
(Mark 13:11)
But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you
will be given what to say, (Matt. 10:19)

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. (Ps. 118:8)

"Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor
because of all the horde that is with him; for the one with us is greater than the one with
him. (2 Chr, 32:7)

"With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to
fight our battles." And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. (2 Chr.
32:8)

How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the
proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. (Ps. 40:4)

Oh give us help against the adversary, For deliverance by man is in vain. (Ps. 108:12)

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. (Ps. 146:3)

O give us help against the adversary, For deliverance by man is in vain. (Ps. 60:11)

Through the Power of God, We Achieve Mightily (Ex. Obtain Wealth

ETC.)

Through God we shall achieve mightily, And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
(Ps. 60:12)

He (Saul) acted valiantly and defeated the Amalekites, and delivered Israel from the
hands of those who plundered them. (1 Sam. 14:48)

You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to
accomplish mightily (obtain wealth etc.), that He may confirm His covenant that He
swore to your fathers, as it is this day. (Deut 8:18)

And you say in your heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.
