Understanding Bhakti and Sufi movements & influence of Christianity on Indian society

Indian culture has earned a lot of dignity and respect worldwide. Our culture is diverse; still we have
unity in our presentation and outlook. During the medieval period, Bhakti and Sufi movements spread
across India along with Christianity. They spread their message through hymns, bhajans, sermons and
music. These movements influenced the social and cultural aspects of Indian society.

Guidelines

The project should contain:

 The various sources of information about the composite culture like Bijak, Guru Granth Sahib,
Ajmer Sharif Dargah, St. Francis Assisi Church in Cochin
 Significance (impact) of Bhakti movement with reference to Mirabai and Sant Jnaneswar
 Significance (impact) of Sufi movement with reference to Hazrat Nizamuddin
 The role of St. Francis in propagating Christianity in India
 Influence of Christianity and its significant role in promoting language, art and literature on
Indian culture.
 One of the fundamental duties states that we should value and preserve the rich heritage of our
composite culture. Highlight some of the difficulties faced by the government and the society in
maintaining the rhythm of the composite culture

• Use school sheets

• Use black/blue pen

• Use coloured pens only for headings

• Stick pictures on the left side and write- up on the right side

• Your project should have an index, acknowledgement and bibliography
