This research was conducted in Pematang Kuala Village water area, Teluk Mengkudu
District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. This study aims to determine the diversity and the
abundance of Crustaceae in the Panaeidae family in Teluk Mengkudu waters. The method used
in this research is the exploratory method of the fishermen catch.
The results showed that it was found that the Crustaceae species which had the highest
level of the diversity value in the 0.164 species of Panaeus indicus were found in June and the
lowest index of the Panaeus indicus species was found in May of 0.141. The highest species
diversity index Metapeaneus affinis was found in June 0.350, while the lowest species diversity
index Metapeaneus affinis 0.354 was found in May. Crustaceae diversity in the family
Panaeidae caught by fishermen in Teluk Mengkudu water is 1.533 and classified as medium
category.
The highest abundance value was found in June for the species Panaeus indicus 5.762
and the lowest abundance for the species Panaeus indicus 4.568 in May. The highest abundance
index caught by the fishermen in June was Metapeaneus affinis 29.371, while the lowest
Metapeaneus affinis was 27.053 in May. The abundance of Crustaceae in the Panaeidae family
caught by the fishermen in Teluk Mengkudu water is 100 and classified in the abundant
category.
The Diversity and the abundance of the Crustaceae in Panaeidae can produce teaching
materials form of learning modules in the Invertebrate Course in FKIP UISU.
