Subtitling for GoGlobal – Checklist

Please read the tasks listed below, mark with an X all of those that you’ve
performed, and send it along with your finished work.

I checked that all my subtitles have at least 3 frames between each other. X
I checked that I haven’t split any subtitle that could have easily fit in one line. X
I checked that I haven’t split grammatical phrases or clauses during X
segmentation or between subtitles.
I checked that no subtitle exceeds the reading speed limit of 20 characters per X
second.
I checked that none of my subtitles exceeded the limit of 32 characters per line. X
I did not leave spaces after dialogue lines. X
I did not transcribe any onomatopoeias. X
I did not use any shortened colloquial forms, such as: Tô, Tá, Ok, Pra, Né, Valeu, Pô. X
I did not use ellipsis to indicate continuity between subtitles and I only used X
ellipsis to indicate inflections of the speech.
I made sure I always translated song lyrics italics, without using a period after X
each segment and capitalizing the first letter of each segment.
I made sure that all names and locations were spelled consistently along the file. X
I made sure the file was named as follows: name of the show/film in lower case, X
each first letter in capital letters, S for season and E for episode+ID number of
the episode+target language (ESP, PRT, or GBR). Example:
Buzz_S3_E190_B5MHF_ESP
I ran the spellcheck. X
I used “- “instead of its longer version, “— “. X
I used inverted commas for the titles of books, movies, songs, etc. X
I used italics to indicate voice-over. X
I used straight quotation marks instead of curly quotation marks. X
I watched the video until the last frame to check I didn’t miss any subtitles. X
I’ve read and complied to the subtitling guidelines handed to me by the X
translation company.
I’ve checked all the characters’ names on the script or on IMDB. I looked X
through the file with Crtl+B to verify all names have been spelled in a consistent
