As an ENFJ/Protagonist personality type, my strengths, weaknesses, friendships,

relationships, career paths, and workplace habits connect to my careers fields that I’m interested
in (teaching or counselling).
Firstly, my strengths connect to my interested career fields because I align with being
receptive, reliable, passionate, altruistic, and charismatic. These traits connect to my career plan
because being a teacher and counsellor involves a level-headed leader who can help guide
learners to not only pursue success career-wise, but also with personal goals/interests. I use these
strengths all the time when I coach kids, and during REC scorekeeping and other events. I feel
this is an accurate description of my personality.
Next, my weaknesses of being unrealistic, condescending, intense, and overly empathetic
connect to my interested career fields because teaching and counselling can be emotionally
draining due to the stress and responsibility of leading others. I would most likely encounter
emotional situations where the well-being of a student/client is poor, thus I would need to keep
myself in check, and develop plans to help them the best I can while accepting the fact that I
can’t fix everything, or possibly anything at all. I feel this is somewhat of an accurate description
of my personality because I don’t identify strongly with being condescending.
Third, my friendships connect to my interested career fields because I consider good
company an important part to my life. I’m warm, caring, and supportive to everyone, but I’m
fully vulnerable around a select few that I trust the most/reciprocate the same feelings. Being
around friends from different backgrounds would benefit me being a teacher or counsellor
because I consider myself to be quite open-minded. I can socialize well with others from a
variety of backgrounds since my friends’ well-being are important to me. I feel this is an
accurate description of my personality.
Additionally, my relationships connect to teaching and counselling because I’m able to
respectfully approach weightier topics, and deeply appreciate others. My sensitivity to others’
emotions allows me to sense when someone’s mood isn’t the best. I must watch out for my
tendency to be overly empathetic and take on my partner’s goals as my own (more prone to
being emotionally drained which can lead to insecurity and anger). I feel this is a mostly accurate
description of my personality because I’ve been working on not being dangerously empathetic.
Furthermore, my career paths are highlighted to show that I excel in almost all people-
oriented fields. I gravitate towards careers with altruistic themes. I can bring sincerity, integrity,
and idealism to jobs that challenge me. I find fulfillment from work that allows me to reflect on
the bigger picture: improving people’s lives. My altruism and creativity helps me to use my work
to contribute to the greater good. I’m recognized for my leadership abilities, often put into
leadership roles (example: Team Captain for scorekeeping in volleyball season because of how I
interact and influence those around me). Some examples of careers that would suit me includes
human resources, public relations, teaching, counselling, healthcare, and social work. I feel this
is an accurate description of my personality.
Also, my workplace habits align with teaching and counselling because my personality is
generally likeable and good-natured, meaning that I can effectively inspire my company to learn
and grow. My traits being more of a social nature allows for Protagonists to be successful at any
level of influence. My perception and dedication prepares me to take on multiple responsibilities
to be taken competently. Unfortunately, some managers may take advantage of these traits and
overburden me with extra work, knowing that I would probably say yes. Using my emotional
intelligence, I can combat this to find a balance. I feel this is an accurate description of my
personality.
