Important Instructions While Giving Board Exam
1] Start each SECTION on a NEW page.

2] Evaluation of each MCQ would be done for the first attempt only.

3] Use of Logarithm Tables is allowed. Use of a calculator is not allowed. You will be provided Logarithm table
during the exam by Invigilator.

4] Values of required physical constant will be mentioned on the question paper.

5] Q.1 is a set of 10 multiple choice type questions. Do not rewrite the statements. Write the question number,
the option number [ viz., (a), (b), (c) or (d) ] as well as the option in full. Calculations, if required, may be done
at the bottom of the page so that you may recheck later.
e.g. Q.1] i) what is SI unit of force?
(a) joule (b) erg (c) newton (d) dyne
You should answer like the following
Q.1] i) (c) newton

6] Answers for Q.2 very briefly.

How to write answers? [ For theory questions of 2/3/4 Marks]

For Derivation Type Question

1] Give description. Mention the notations you are going to use for physical
quantities.

2] Draw corresponding diagrams.

3] Explain the theory behind derivation of formulae.

4] Obtain the formulae

5] Write conclusions.
How to write answers? [ For theory questions of 2/3/4 Marks]

For Numericals

1] Write given data once. Do necessary conversion of units to keep all the units for
given physical quantities in any ONE system of unit.

2] Write the formulae.

3] Substitute the values correctly.

4] Do necessary calculations.

5] Write your answer with correct unit if there is any.

Some More Tips
1. Prepare a list of diagrams. Draw all diagrams with a properly sharpened pencil and use a scale for drawing
all lines.
2. For every definition, remember the corresponding formula also. If you have to write a definition, write its
corresponding formula as well. Often, when you write a formula, you are able to recollect the definition.
3. Learn the laws and definitions – don’t change the wording as that may change the meaning..
4. Learn all formula with what each symbol stands for.
5. Memorize basic constants in Physics. E.g., values of acceleration due to gravity on surface of earth (g),
speed of light in vacuum (c), pi, Planck’s constant, Avogadro’s number.
6. Practice all numerical questions. When answering numerical questions, you must give the formula that
you will use, list of given quantities (with units) and list of unknown quantities. Before you substitute
the values, check that they are all in same system of units (CGS / SI).
7. Don’t omit numerical questions; you are not likely to get good marks if you don’t attempt numerical
questions. Some numerical questions are very easy and may just involve a simple substitution and
calculation.
8. All numerical questions must contain the answer with proper units.
9. Practice all circuit diagrams and pay attention to directions of currents and p.d. polarity.
10. Solve atleast 5 years question papers and sample papers; that will give you enough confidence.

Instructions for Practical Examination in Physics
1) Bring your certified journal on the day of exam with you. Without it you will be
not allowed to give practical exam.
2) Keep geometry box with you.
3) Write neatly. Don’t do any rough work on your answer paper.
4) Draw all the necessary diagrams by using pencil.
5) Don’t connect circuit diagram before showing your circuit diagram to the
examiner. After his/her approval connect the circuit diagram without switching ON
the circuit. After showing your circuit connection to the examiner you can start the
experiment.
6) To record observations make neat and correct observation table.
7) Use logarithm book for calculations. For certain experiments you should use
calculation table.
8) For viva you should prepare the chapter related to the experiments. All the
definitions, formulae, basic knowledge about experiments is important during viva.
