In our community, one of the leading health concerns in our community is the onset of
its incidence in the areas – Dengue Fever. Dengue struck our community first at around
the month of August, and has been around until now, but with a lot less cases due to
community efforts to reduce/eradicate dengue fever in the area. The community was
adamant in organizing a group consisting of volunteers and barangay members, and a
few of the from the health center, to try and control the spread of the disease.
Personally experiencing the hardship of having dengue, the implementation of a
dengue-control program that is tailored to my community would be a nice
advancement to promoting better health in the community. With the general idea from
the community members, and the guide from the lecture, I was able to formulate the
following as its vision, mission, and goal.

Vision:

- A healthy and dengue-free community all year-round

Mission

- A community driven to control the incidence of Dengue through community

efforts and unity.

Goals:

- Promote the importance of adhering to dengue-control standards set by the

Department of Health (DOH) and the community
- Encourage every community member to participate in activities set to decrease
or remove dengue in the area
- Encourage unity of community members
- Educate and provide the community with preventive measures such as the:
o 4 O’ clock habit
o Using mosquito repellents in and outside their homes (e.g. Mosquito coils,
etc.)
- Provide the community sufficient information on the importance and prevalence
of dengue, and the importance of eradicating dengue.
- Accommodate and help dengue stricken clients in the community
- Set and develop an active Health Unit to address dengue cases
- Equip the RHU with sufficient knowledge and resources to eradicate of decrease
the incidence of dengue in the community
