PRESS NOTE

Telangana State Council of Higher Education convened a Vice Chancellor’s Conference


today i.e Wednesday 16th February 2022 at Dr. MCR HRD Institute of Telangana,
Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad in the presence of Smt. P. Sabitha Indira Reddy garu, Hon’ble
Minister for Education, Govt. of Telangana, Sri. Somesh Kumar, IAS, Hon’ble Chief
Secretary, Government of Telangana, Sri. Sandeep Kumar Sultania, IAS, Secretary
(Education) Government of Telangana and other Vice-Chancellors’ of Telangana State
Universities.

In the meeting, all the Vice-Chancellors presented their Academic, Administrative


Infrastructure matters and other pending issues and discussed the status of the
current education system mainly in Telangana. Prof. R. Limbadri, Chairman, TSCHE
made a detailed presentation about the Higher Education scenario in Telangana and
the steps being taken up by TSCHE in this regard. He also urged the Vice-Chancellors’
to explore the possibilities of academic quality enhancement and improve the linkages
with industry.

Hon'ble Minister Smt. P. Sabitha Indra Reddy garu expressed immense satisfaction and
happiness and appreciated the presentations made by the Vice-Chancellors of eleven
state Universities in Telangana.

The education scenario is fast changing and especially in the post pandemic period the
Telangana Universities have done a commendable job - said Smt. P. Sabitha Indra
Reddy garu.

She added that the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Sri. K. Chandrashekhar Rao garu has
always stressed the need for quality education to be imparted in all the spheres of
education - School, Intermediate, Degree/Post Graduate and Research programs.

The enrollment percentage of girls in higher education has increased significantly since
the formation of the State of Telangana. About 65-70 percent of girls are very happy to
join Universities in Telangana. She commended the Vice-Chancellors’ who effectively
managed admissions and examinations in a timely manner without any hindrance to
academic programs in all the valuable Universities and colleges under them during the
corona epidemic and saved the academic year of the students.

The Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Sri. Somesh Kumar garu highlighted the important
expectations from Universities especially since the world of work is fast changing and
explained that the entire system of education is changing and unlike in the past where
getting a book was a problem, today we have access to all resources. Hence, he
suggested that Universities need to change quickly.

He also engaged the Universities to prepare on following “Action Plan” and focus
should move on academic excellence where lot of Human Resource is there and
enhance Research, infrastructure and utilise JRF and incentivise the bright minds. Also
he suggested that Journals / peer reviewed/ publications must be added and a
Committee on Resource mobilisation must be setup by TSCHE. CSR funding may be
provided and help of leading corporates may be taken.

The meeting ended with the launch of eOFFICE of TSCHE, OU, JNTUH and Kakatiya
Universities.

Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, Vice-Chairman, TSCHE presented the major summary and
conclusions of the Conference and the road map for further actions as suggested by
Hon’ble Minister for Education.
