OBJECTIVES:
1. To trace the literature of Israel
2. To determine the importance of the Bible in one’s life

Literature has always been a tool for religious people to express their faith. Most of
the stories you have read from previous levels and units provide a glimpse of how ancient
people, through folktales, exhibit their belief in a divine being probably to explain how life
began or how one should live it. These tales inspired the formulation of different religions
which number grew in Asia.

Main Activity
Read page 303-308. Discover more about Israel and its literature. Summarize your
research through a comprehensive graphic organizer.

Alternative Activities
Read “The Story of Ruth” on pages 310-316 of your book. After which, choose one
from the alternative activities below.

Alternative Activity 1
Create your own summary of the story.

Alternative Activity 2
List down at least three values/lessons you learned from the story of Ruth.
Explain each in 2-3 sentences. Your explanation must also contain a scene from the
story where each value is reflected.
