Structure of the Cell Function


1.Cell Wall To Provide structural strength and support and provide a semi-
permeable surface for molecules to pass in and out of the cell.
2.Mitochondria To Produce energy and regulate metabolic activity of the cell.
3.Chloroplast To absorb sunlight and use it with water and carbon dioxide gas too
produce food for plants.
4. Cell Membrane To protect the cell from its surroundings.
5. Nucleus To control cell growth and reproduction and contain the cell’s
hereditary information and genetic material and act as storage for
DNA.

Answers to Guide Questions:

1. The vesicles are responsible for carrying in, out and around the cell materials from one part of
the cell to another. They also transport waste products outside the cells in a process called
“exocytosis”.
2. The basic function of cells in an organism is to keep all of the functions of the body
performing as intended. This includes keeping toxins out of the body, help to break down
waste, make nutrients and act as barriers within organelles.
3. If all the cells or parts of the structures are damaged and malfunction in an organism, many
kinds of diseases may come in and later the whole organism might die.
4. The fluid mosaic model of membrane enables my body to obtain and regulate the
phospholipids, proteins and cholesterol
