SAMSUNG HISTORY

● Samsung started out as a small trading company which dealt in dried fish, locally grown groceries and
noodles.
● As the company prospered, in 1947, it’s head office is moved to Seoul but later that office is abandoned due
to the breakout of korean war.
● After that Mr.Lee started sugar refinery, woollen mills in 1950s and in 1960s samsung diversified into wide
range of businesses such as insurance, security, retail, trading, electronics, broadcasting, departmental
stores, etc.
● In 1970s, the company started manufacturing products such as Black and White TVs, Washing machines, etc
exceeding their production numbers millions and entered the Semiconductor market as Samsung
Semiconductor and Telecommunications Co.
● In 1980s, the company starts manufacturing products such as ACs, PCs, and many other electronics
products and entered into telecommunications hardware industry along with heavily investing in electronics
research and development.
● In 1990s, Samsung developed its first mobile handset, achieved top shares in flat tv industry, developed
wireless network phone, etc and expanded its activities into various countries and began to dominate globally
in many markets.
● In 21st century, it continued its domination in many markets and becomes the number 1 in global TV market
share. It pushed the limits of electronics technology and led to the birth of many new technologies.
