3. Private candidates registered for the Alternative Paper (04/2) in the French and Spanish Unit 1
and Unit 2 examinations will not be required to take a written paper but will be required to
take the oral examinations. No dates have been scheduled for the oral examinations, however,
they must be taken between 12–27 April at the discretion of the Local Registrar.
4. Art and Design: The Question Papers (Papers 2 and 3 for Unit 1 and Paper 2 for Unit 2) are to
be handed to candidates on Friday, 15 April. The examinations must be completed during the
period 09-20 May.
5. Once scheduled in the same session, the Alternative Paper 03/2 must be written after Paper 1.
Use of Dictionaries
6. The use of dictionaries is permitted for French and Spanish Paper 03 ONLY. Candidates are
allowed one text related to each theme to assist them in answering Section B of Paper 03.
N.B: Texts that are heavily annotated are not permitted in the examination room.
Use of Calculators
7. The use of silent non-programmable scientific calculators is permitted for the following
examinations:
(i) Accounting Units 1 and 2
(ii) Agricultural Science Units 1 and 2
(iii) Applied Mathematics Units 1 and 2
(iv) Biology Units 1 and 2
(v) Building and Mechanical Engineering Drawing Units 1 and 2
(vi) Chemistry Units 1 and 2
(vii) Design and Technology Units 1 and 2
(viii) Economics Units 1 and 2
(ix) Electrical and Electronic Technology Units 1 and 2
(x) Environmental Science Units 1 and 2
(xi) Financial Services Studies Units 1 and 2
(xii) Geography Units 1 and 2
(xiii) Green Engineering Units 1 and 2
(xiv) Integrated Mathematics
(xv) Logistics and Supply Chain Operations Units 1 and 2
(xvi) Management of Business Units 1 and 2
(xvii) Physics Units 1 and 2

(xix) Sociology Units 1 and 2 – Paper 1 only

8. Candidates writing the Alternative Paper to SBA (Paper 03/2) for Law Units 1 and 2 will be permitted
to take into the examination room prepared notes on the topic of the year:- Sexual Offences in Unit 1,
and Nuisance in Unit 2. When responding to the question, candidates may refer to their prepared
notes.
10. The use of personal computers with earphones/headphones is permitted for listening and playback of
CDs in the French Units 1 and 2 Paper 01, and Spanish Units 1 and 2 Paper 01 examinations. Each
candidate will be provided with a CD for use in the Paper 01 examination.
13. The Paper 1 examination will take the multiple choice format in ALL examinations.
New Offering
14. Design and Technology Units 1 and 2 will be offered for the first time at the May-June 2022 sitting.
