How Nutrition Affects

Personality Development?
Apart from the environmental inputs which have lasting effects on a person’s personality,
good nutrition, balanced in both macro and micro nutrients is of vital importance. When we
talk about the cognitive abilities of a person, we refer to the attention, memory, thinking,
learning and perception of that person. All of these in the years to come,  go on to shape the
skills and the general abilities of a person and have a direct relationship with a person’s
achievements, including access to better literacy, lifestyle, self-esteem and self-control.

As we go on to grow through our lives, the food we eat; in other words nutrition, among
other factors, goes on to play an important role in our personality development. Studies on
micro nutrients have yielded good results and the importance of these on human behavior or
personality must be underlined as well.

Research shows that nutrition can impact everything from a child’s growth to their mood,
behavior and learning capabilities. There are some obvious links between diet and behavior
that some parents have taken note of. Sugar is one of the biggest culprits in this category.
While many parents have noticed the link between their child eating too much sugar and
acting hyperactive as a result, sugar can have even more of an impact on a child’s behavior.
Long-term studies show that children who eat diets heavy in sugars and processed foods are
more likely to suffer from obesity and sleep issues.

Unfortunately, the problematic thing about avoiding processed foods like this for children is
that many “kid” foods that look fun and taste great, and that are marketed towards little ones
have a lot of preservatives, dyes, and sugars in them and this could be very harmful for the
child as it may affect there liver, pancreas, etc. And this may affect the digestive system of
the child and this may make the immunity weak.

If the children will not minimize the consumption of the fat, then the fat which is converted
into fatty acid or glycerol will be kept collecting in the body which can cause obesity.

Hence, it is necessary for the children to take balanced diet as it will affect the personality
development of the children.
