Q.4Out of a group of swans, 2 times the square root of the number are playing on the shore of a
tank. The two remaining ones are playing with amorous fight in the water. What is the total
number of swans.
Q.5The age of a father is twice the square of the age of his son. Eight years hence the age of the
father will be four years more than the those three times the age of his son. Find their present
ages.

Q.6Two pipes running together can fill a cistern in 313 minutes. If one pipe takes 3 minutes
more than other to fill it, find the time in which each pipe would fill the cistern.
Q.7A motor boat whose speed is 20km/hr in still water ,takes 1 hour more to go 48km
upstream than to return downstream to the same spot. Find the speed of the stream.
Q.8Does there exists a quadratic equation whose coefficients are rational but both of its roots
are irrational. Justify your answer.
Q.9A train travels at a certain average speed for a distance of 63km and then travels a distance
of 72km at an average speed of 6km/hr more than its original speed. If it takes 3 hours to
complete the journey what is the original average speed of the train.
