Table of Contents About the Collection Picture Index The 2011 Origami Collection Origami Basics Index by Model vi 232 237 About the Origami Collection The Origami Collection was bern in 1980 from ideals fostered by the founding members of OrigamiUSA. Michael Shall (1949-1995) launched this yearly anthology to share origami models from around the world. His mentor. Lillian Oppenheimer (1898-1992), provided the springboard for this effort, as many of the models were drawn from her collection ond connections she cultivated. Alice Gray (1914-1994) also provided inspiration by streamlining the communication of origami ideos. All of the novice-level works in this collection ore dedicated to Alice and her love of simple. elegant pieces Throughout the years as our presentation has grown more polished, the goal of showcasing great origami has not diminished. The editors of the Origami Collection spend many hours curating, testing and editing origami designs to produce a book that will appeal 10 origami aficionados of all levels and interests. Variety is « key criterion: you will find works here by established origami artists os well as mony hidden gems from up-and-coming stars. Most of the pieces are making their debut in these pages. We hope you are as excited about discovering these diagrams os wwe are in presenting them. Then construct a line tangent to the cirele, and divide the 180 deg ree ange into N parts, where Nis the desired number of sides. ‘This method can be used in origami as well: one point, and the side opposite t, are placed on the edges of the reotangle, and the angles are vided on each side to produce crease intersections on each vertex.
