Question 1

A train accelerates from 36 km/h to 54 km/h in 10 sec.

(i) Acceleration
(ii) The distance travelled by car.

Question 2
A truck travelling at 54 km/h is slow down to 36 km/h in 10 sec. Find the retardation

Question 3
A scooter travelling at 10 m/s speed up to 20 m/s in 4 sec. Find the acceleration of scooter.
a=2.5 m/s2

Question
A train starts from rest and accelerate uniformly at the rate of 5 m/s2 for 5 sec. Calculate the
velocity of train in 5 sec.

v=0+5×5=25v=0+5×5=25 m/s
Question
Two cars A and B race each other. The Car A ran for 2 minute at a speed of 7.5 km/h, slept
for 56 minute and again ran for 2 minute at a speed of 7.5 km/h. find the average speed of
the car A in the race.

Question 1
Anand leaves his house at 8.30 A.M for his school. The school is 2 km away and classes
start at 9.00 A.M. If he walks at a speed of 3 km/h for the first kilometre, at what speed
should he walk the second kilometre to reach just in time?
An object starting from rest travels 20 m in first 2 s and 160 m in next 4 s.What will be the
velocity after 7 s from the start.

1. Brake applied to a car produce a uniform

retardation of 90m/s .if the car was
travelling with a velocity of 27m/s.than what
distance will it cover before coming to rest?
2. u =27 m/s
3. v = 0 ... (brakes are applied final velocity will become zero)
4. a = - 90 m/s2 (negative sign indicates retardation)
5.
6. v2 = u2 + 2as
7. 0 = (27)2 + 2 x (-90) x (s)
8. 0 = 729 - 180 s
9. s = 729/180 =  4.05 m

A car is travelling with a speed of 36km/h.

The driver applies the brakes and retards
the car uniformly. The car is stopped in 5
seconds. Find i) Retardation of the car ii)
Distance travelled before it is stopped.
u = 36 km/h = 10 m/s
v =0
t = 5 s

i) v = u + at
0 = 10 + a x 5
Thus,
a = -10/5
a = 2 m/s2
Thus, retardation of the car is 2 m/s2

ii)
s = ut + 1/2 at2
s = 10 x 5 + (1/2) x (-2) x 52
s = 50 - 25 = 25 m

An object starting from rest travels 20m in

the first 2s and 160m in the next 4s. What
will be the velocity after 7s from the start?
Given data:
u = 0 m/s; s = 20 mt = 2 s
We use the formula s = ut + (1/2)at2
Substituting the values, we get
a = 10 m/s2

At t = 7 seconds
v=u+at,
→v=0+at
       = 10 x 7
→ v = 70 m/s
