NOLI ME TANGERE 1887

Dr. Jose P. Rizal

Basilio
Basilio is a little boy who
was forced into a difficult
situation at an early age. Basilio
stood out to me the most because
he's responsible for his mother Sisa
and his younger brother Crispin
from a young age. I've seen and
heard instances that are quite
similar to Basilio's experience;
some children nowadays are forced
to face this brutal world without
the supervision of their parents and
are left to fend for themselves.
Basilio witnessed his mother die in
his arms, and I can't comprehend
the heartbreak of a child losing his
mother in his arms and still
managing to bury her. I'm amazed
that he's endured so many
difficulties at such an early age and
still carries on to confront them
bravely.
