An experimental study was done with the American University of Beirut (AUB) to test the effect of shutter placement on energy savings and
window performance in hot and humid climates like KSA.
3 Major benefits were found that could improve the quality of life in Residential Buildings.
A) Energy savings for different shutter positions:

The percentage of reduction in electrical energy consumption was found each time the shutter is closed.

B) Furniture protection from Ultraviolet transmission through the space envelope:

Ultraviolet (UV) transmission has become a concern especially in countries with high amounts of solar radiation hitting the building envelope.
It could be concluded that the Motorized shutter is very resistive to UV transmission.
This window would ensure no UV passage to the interior space that might harm the occupants as well as the furniture over long periods of time
Air leakage into a space has become a problem as it might increase the cooling load and might contain undesired bacteria, chemicals concentration
or even sand.
C) Findings about Air infiltration through window/shutter

Rolling Shutter and window has great resistance to air passage, and any other type of material that might be transported through air into the
inner space, especially sand.
