Good morning, my name is ____ and today I'll
be presenting our thesis proposal for
architectural design 10. The project is entitled
**
Basista was used to be famous as an agricultural
town. But the town is no longer as flourishing
and thriving as before due to a lack of capital,
investors, and people who support this kind of
industry. All these major issues may be
potentially solved through developing a farm
resort.
Through processing and waste utilization of
dragon fruit is the mechanization in preparation
of value-added products in order to achieve a
sustainable & zero-waste food production. It
does not only provide sustainable food for
consumers but also helps educate people with
regard to food production.
And through farm resort, it can give
opportunities to farmers, promote tourism AND
will help in the growth of socio-economic
development by gradually investing in this
business. To tourists, attractions are offered to
enrich their farm life experience.
The proposal is located in Anambongan, Basista,
Pangasinan with an area of 2.5 hectares and is
currently a dragon fruit farm. The proposed
farm resort will not just offer recreation but
also share knowledge on food sustainability.
So the problem is the government lacks support
in the agriculture industry. To address this issue,
the researcher proposed a study of a farm
resort that maximizes the site’s full potential for
agriculture and tourism. It also focuses on the
process and waste utilization of dragon fruit to
achieve food sustainability.
More specifically, the study aimed to *read
objectives*
In order to attain the objectives of this study,
the researcher conducted these activities and
procedures that are enlisted here, are
eventually led to the solution of the design
problem. This study mainly uses qualitative
analysis.
The findings of the study revealed are the
chosen ENGAGING FARM LEISURE activities that
can be offered for the tourist is to Have
something for visitors to see, b) something for
them to do, and c) something for them to buy.
In this way, local industry will be promoted
through the project.
Another findings of the study based on SWOT
analysis is why The owner of the site chose
dragon fruit as their income generator is becoz
the level of risk in producing the crop is lesser
and more tolerant to adverse weather
conditions.
This data gathered shows the adoptable
demonstration in Dragon Fruit Production is the
Process and WASTE utilization. The fruit is
processed into numerous value-added products
as shown on the table, the utilization of by-
products will contribute to reducing waste
disposal problems.
Now moving on for the site analysis, the project
will be built in a landlocked Basista. The site is
relatively flat from all of its corners and since it
is rich in natural elements such as trees, which
should as much as possible be preserved and
There's a temporary bungalow built on the
southern portion of the site.
In this section, the researcher discusses the
goals, facts, needs, concept and problem to
consider in designing a Farm Resort. It will
further provide the spaces and its
considerations that may help the circulation
and interrelationships of the spaces. It will also
discuss the initial design concept.
For the site programming, there are 6 main
functional space which will be included on the
site: The main building -uhh- serves as the
central node of the site, processing facility And that concludes the presentation for today,

In conceptual development plan shows the final

list of required spaces gathered by the
researcher. This forms the basis of the floor
plan integrated on the lot. Different areas will
be separated with gardens, and other
landscapes allowing visitors to move through
architecture and agricultural environment.

The design concept of the project incorporate

the design of bahay kubo. A house with no
formal architect and yet it is planned and
designed with a deep understanding with our
living conditions and circumstances. By infusing
today's design strategies, materials and
technology yet retaining its distinctive design
elements.

The design character will be tropical design. It is

all about achieving thermal comfort through the
use of passive design elements like sunshades,
overhangs and the like. It is very Much
applicable and exactly relative to the design
concept which is the traditional Filipino.

Now for the space programming of a processing

facility, The final spaces that are enlisted here
are derived from various case studies. Some of
the programs and area data are taken from
general conception and brief study of Food
Agricultural Organization and Department of
Agriculture.

Here is the schematic plan of the processing

facility considering the ergonomic safety and
throughput capacity. The mechanization will
help to reduce the production cost, human
drudgery and in achieving a better quality of
end products.
