Monoprint Collage

Kim Herringe
Kim Herringe is an award-winning Australian artist and educator
whose work consists mostly of different forms of printmaking and inking,
such as linocut prints, monotype prints, collagraphs, and etching. Much
of her work has been inspired by and revolves around natural elements
such as leaves, flowers, and has even done more realistic/precise works
representing environments or animals. Much of her work is very vibrant,
colorful, or realistic.
Herringe spent 30 years working in graphic design, advertising,
and marketing, but missed printmaking and more physical art, so she
moved to start working on hand printing and teaching. Since then, she
has created several collections and has participated in a few art
exhibitions. I personally like her works a lot, as they are very vibrant and
colorful, but the use of natural elements makes the art that she makes
very peaceful.

Mark Brodie

Mark Brodie isn’t an award-winning artist but has an extremely

impressive portfolio behind him. Brodie currently lives in San Francisco
and works at the Graphic Arts Workshop there, which is a fine arts
printmaking cooperative that has worked to give artists in the Bay Area
affordable access to printmaking facilities for decades. For over 30 years,
Brodie’s primary artistic focus happened to be on photography. His
works have been published in a few magazines and displayed in
exhibitions since 1988.
Mark has always held appreciation for paper works, and after
working with photography for 30 years, he wanted to explore some
more, and found himself combining photography and monotype
printing, developing a unique and interesting style of art. His
photography shifted from being focused on nature to focused on
architecture. He began burning his photos on solar plates and began to
develop abstract and colorful compositions. I think his compositions are
very distinctive and original, and are sort of thought provoking, as I find
myself trying to figure out how he composed a piece when looking at
one.

Barbara Reade
Barbara Reade is a painter and printmaker whose works are driven
by her endless inspiration to capture the emotional impact of both urban
and natural landscapes through abstract, colorful, precise, and free-
flowing works. She pursued her passion for art at Parsons School of
Design in New York City where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts
in Illustration. She is a member of the Burlington Fine Arts Association,
she has continued to develop her skills by participating in intensive art
programs, and she is an active member of the Art2Life Academy.
Reade’s pieces consist of several different techniques and styles of
art. Many of her pieces are created with multiple layers of paint,
monotype prints, collage elements, graphite, and wax pastels. Some of
these layers are even sanded away to create interesting textures. Her
works have been featured in several exhibitions and auctions, as well as
some popular magazines such as Vanity Fair, GQ, and House & Garden. I
really like her style, it feels very much like controlled chaos, and has a
very interesting process behind them.
