This poem is written specifically in consideration of the general public rather than the academic
community. The audiences whom it focuses on are the people, especially couples, who suffer
In the poem, the argument is shifted in terms of using the first-person narrative and making it
personal and subjective to fit the audience. Secondly, the poem's purpose is usual than academic,
as it has a moral and literary significance that is intended to reach the targeted audiences. The
narrator of the poem is a woman who is presenting her inner emotions and conflicts which seem
to be resulting from stress in a relationship. With the depiction of a situation more common to
the general public, the poem sheds light on the healthy ways of coping with interpersonal
conflicts; the narrator in the second stanza presents the reader with the advice she gets from her
friends. The name of her friend “Amica” literally means a buddy or a close friend in Latin. Thus,
the presence of a vent is a healthy coping mechanism recognized fitting which I argued in my
assignment (Woehnker, 2020). The poem is subjective in its interpretation and can be analyzed
relationship due to reasons like the change of her mate’s behavior or his ignorance. She is seen

doing negative self-talking in the second stanza which was shown as an argument in my paper
(Hall, 2019).
