AM (Obstetrics and Gynecology 2021/2022 — University of Bologna Pea ey roe cy Wy ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022 Learning outcomes Describe the clinical manifestations, etiology, epidemiology, risk factors, natural history, diagnosis, staging, prognostic indicators and management of the major gynecologic diseases and related conditions, with emphasis on those most commonly encountered in the clinical practice. Identify the major diagnostic and therapeutic options for each encountered clinical scenario, and discuss their benefits ane limitations. Describe the course of a normal pregnancy and effective healthcare during pregnancy to ensure the health of the mother and fetus. Discuss the proper management of labor and delivery and the management of common medical complications that occur during and after pregnancy. Present and critically analyze clinical cases, discuss the differential diagnosis, and formulate appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for each case (Problem-Based Learning). Course contents Principles of human embryology and teratogenesis. Maternal adaptations in pregnancy. Principles of antenatal care, obstetric ultrasound, drugs in pregnancy and lactation. labor and delivery. Obstetric surgery. Congental anomalies: impact, diagnosis, screening.
