CHAPTER ONE

1.a. Outline examples of foreign cultures being adopted by African Christians


today. Are there any disadvantages of such foreign cultures to moral stability
in your country? Explain.
   b. Explain any five lessons that African Christians can learn from foreign
cultures.

      2. Explain the four kinds of literature we find in our study of the New Testament
and explain the unique contribution of each to our picture and understanding of
Jesus and His ministry.

CHAPTER 2

1.     Briefly explain what a Gospel is and what it aims to do.

2.      a)  Who was Mark?

          b)  Briefly describe the circumstances, the original audience and his purpose in
writing   
          his account.
3.     Summarise who Jesus is according to Mark and what he came to do.

4.     Throughout the Gospel of Mark, Jesus repeatedly tries to convince his disciples
that his ministry was to die and rise again, not to establish an independent
nation of Israel. What does Jesus’ emphatic teaching on this subject imply about
Christians and politics today? (Mark. 10:35-45, Acts. 1:6)

5.     a) What specifically needs to happen in your life, for Jesus’ death and
resurrection to be Good News to you personally?

         b) With specific examples from your profession, discus the relevance of the
gospel.
CHAPTER 3

1.    Who was the author of the Gospel according to Matthew? What materials did he
use as he compiled his Gospel?

2.     Explain why Matthew presented the Gospel account of Jesus from a Jewish
perspective.

3.     List and briefly explain the characteristics of Matthew’s Gospel.

4.     Who, according to Matthew, is Jesus, and what did He come to do?

5.    In Matthew 25:31-46, we read about the parable of the Last Judgment. Explain
any five ways in which you would prepare for the final judgment.
