DIN 2211 Part 1 Amendments The following amendments have been made in comparison with the August 1982 edition: 2) Belt cross section 19 and reference to narrow V-belts for automobile construction as specified in DIN 7753 Part 3 has been deleted. ) The term working width by has been amended to datum width by and the term working diameter dy has been amended to datum diameter dy Explanatory notes With the exception of the preference for the datum diameter dy for profiles SPZ, SPA and SPB and the permissible deviations for dimension f, the dimensions listed in tables 1 and 2 conform to International Standard ISO 4183 1980 " Grooved pulleys for classical and narrow V-belts” ‘The dimensions of the grooves have been specified such that the classical V-belts conforming to DIN 2215 and DIN 2216 also fit in the grooves, at the upper widths 10, 13, 17 and 22 mm. In particular, the dimensions c and t have been specified in such way that both all internationally standardized V-belts with the narrow profile and the corresponding classical V-belts can be used. ‘The maximum and minimum dimensions for the datum diameter have been calculated from the nominal dimensions taking deviations of + 8% into consideration ‘As compared with the February 1974 edition and the August 1982 edition, in this standard the terms “working width" and “working diameter” have been amended to “datum width’ and “datum diameter” respectively. This follows the usage in International Standard ISO 1081 — 1980 “Terminology relating to drives using V-belts and grooved pulleys" In that standard the width used to define the grooved pulley (a nominal value without tolerance) is now termed “datum width”. In contrast to this the working width of a V-belt was and is the width of the neutral layer, which remains un- ‘changed when the belt is curved perpendicularly to the base of its cross section. The term “‘datum diameter’ has been introduced simultaneously with “datum width”. The amendments were made in order clearly to distinguish the datum width and datum diameter of a grooved pulley from its working width and working diameter, which are now only used to describe a V-belt and its position ina pulley groove and no longer as a basic definition of this pulley. By distinguishing the datum diameter from the working diameter in this way it is.possible to avoid the terminological difficulties which occur when the defined datum width of the pulley groove does not coincide with the working width of @ V-belt running in the groove, i.e. if the working zone of the belt is not at the level of the datum width in the groove. This should, however, not be the case with the grooved pulleys specified in this standard and the V-belts allocated to ‘these pulleys. For this reason, the numerical values for the present datum width and datum diameter have not been amended as compared with those for the previous operating width and diameter. The transmission ratio can also be calculated within the tolerances given using the values for the datum diameter. If the previously used terms “working width” and “working diameter” still occur in documentation relating to grooved pulleys for V-belts they are being used in the same way as the new terms “datum width” and “‘datum diameter” International Patent Classification F 16H 55-49 213 UDC 621.85.051.32 : 621.85.052.42 January 1986 Power transmission elements Grooved pulleys for narrow V-belts Assignment of pulleys to electric motors Antriebselemente; Schmalkeilriemenscheiben; ‘Supersedes March 1974 edition. Dimensions in mm, 1. Scope and field of application ‘The purpose of this standard is to assign to elactric motors as specified in DIN 42672 Part 1 and DIN 42.673 Part 1 ‘one-piece grooved pulleys with in each case the smallest possible datum diameter, dj, for narrow V-belts as speci DIN 7753 Part 1. These pulleys have been dimensioned in accordance with the drive calculations described in DIN 7753 Part 2 and rated on the basis of the data supplied by the manufacturers. With the exception of the hub bore diameter, d2, the grooved pulleys listed in the following table comply with the specifications given in DIN 2211 Part 1. In some cases, the values of d given in the present standard excaed the maximum values of d specified in DIN 2211 Part 1 for mechanical engineering purposes. ‘The use of grooved pulleys with a smaller datum diameter or a wider face width, b2, than those dealt with in this stand: ard shall be subject to agreement with the motor manufacturer. 2. Dimensions, designation Grooved pulleys for narrow V-belts are not required to conform to the pulley illustrated here; only the dimensions specified shall be complied with ‘The hub face which lies flush with the rim shall be mounted facing the motor. Explanatory notes ‘This standard has been prepared by DKE Subcommittee 3111.1 Elektrische Maschinen, Leistungen und Abmessungen. Experience has shown that an important criterion in selecting pulleys for driving motors is the diameter of the pulley; the smaller this diameter is, the smaller can the driven pulley be dimensioned. This criterion results in a revised assignment of pulleys to three-phase motors as specified in DIN 42672 Part 1 and DIN 42 673 Part 1 and applies to the standard desi of such motors provided with a radial contact groove ball bearing at the drive end, and for size 160 M and above to more powerful motors fitted with a cylindrical roller bearing of the same dimensions. ‘The following data, given in DIN 7753 Part 2 for guidance, were adopted for the dimensioning of grooved pulleys for narrow V-belts. Belt performance: in accordance with belt manufacturers’ 1982 data (power ratings approximately 20% higher than specified in DIN 7753 Part 2, April 1976 edition). Speed ratio: 1: 3. 160° angle of belt wrap: corresponding to an angle correction factor ¢y = 0,95, Light duty drive: corresponding to an operational correction factor ¢2 = 1,1 Centre distance: corresponding to a belt length correction factor c = 1.0. Force on shaft: corresponding to a pretensioning factor of about 2.0. ‘The selected number of belts shall be at least 95% of the calculated number of belts. Motor bearings on drive end: series 62 . . radial contact groove ball bearings or series NU2 . . cylindrical roller bearings, ‘corresponding to the next larger size of stub shaft diameter du Rated bearing service life Lo as specified in 1S 281 Part 1: not less than 16000 working hours. For both two pole and for four pole and multi-pole motors only one pulley size has been specified. In some cases, dimensions of stub shafts of motors specified in DIN 42672 Part 1 and DIN 42.673 Part 1 may occasionally differ for the same motor rating. For this reason, the hub bore diameters will be different for pulleys of identical ratings. ‘As the pulleys specified comply with DIN 2211 Part 1, the hub length is always shorter than the length of the stub shaft. No pulleys have bean included for sizes of surface-cooled motors above 250 M, and of internally cooled motors above 225 M, because for these motor sizes belt drives are generally designed to suit the individual appli International Patent Classification F 16H 55/44 02K 7/10 218
