James Arthur “Skip” Talbot

Born in Truro, Nova Scotia in 1932 and was raised in Saint John, NB,
James Arthur “Skip” Talbot completed his education at the Saint John
Vocational School with a certificate of proficiency in radio in 1953. His
career was in telecommunications and electronics and he worked for
Transport Canada in Quebec, Labrador and New Brunswick. He
advanced to maintenance supervisor, and then to the
Telecommunications Branch. He was the first Black Canadian to hold
the position of Radio Operator/Flight Service Specialist for Transport
Canada. Skip served in an executive role with the Multicultural
Association of Greater Moncton and the New Brunswick Multicultural
Council, speaking on anti-racism initiatives and social justice.
