Professional Growth Plan

Name: Rebecca Price Date: 12.8.21

Now that you have completed your class-specific data analysis, take a few minutes to review your 2021-2022
individual objectives. Use information from both documents to complete your Professional Growth Plan.

GOAL
1. What is your learning/growth goal? What are you intending to learn/refine/change to enhance your
teaching practice?

My goal is to grow in my ability to teach writing by focusing more on content rather than conventions. I intend to
gain a better understanding of students’ writing process to help guide their thinking.

2. What is your rationale for selecting this goal?

Lucy Calkins is a very demanding and fast-moving curriculum. I am relatively new to teaching writing as a subject,
but the curriculum is also a challenge. Due to this, I do not believe I teach the curriculum to the best of its ability.

3. What effect do you anticipate this goal will have on teacher & student learning?

Students will gain confidence, have a clearer picture of the expectations and grow in their ability to write
descriptively.

STANDARDS
Which components of the “framework for teaching” will this goal address?

This goal addresses Domain 1: Planning and Preparation – 1a. Demonstrating Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy.

EVIDENCE

Lesson plans, reflection with grade-level, student writing.
