A personal statement that states my leadership aspiration: What impact do I want to have through my

career?

I am a Bangladeshi bureaucrat and have been working in the Bangladesh Civil Service for five years.
Throughout my civil service career, I found one thing that acts as a gamechanger in my profession:
communication. I work in the field administration as an Assistant Commissioner (land) whose primary
responsibilities include land mutation and protecting Khas Land (state-owned land). I have to maintain a
sound communication with the various organs operating in a district that ranges from political personnel
to the prominent business figures. I am the government machinery that mediates and promulgate state
agenda among the various organs. Hence, I play the role of a minuscule diplomat in my jurisdiction.

However, my next aspired position is the commercial counsellor in any Bangladesh embassy. After
finishing my second MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political
Science, I thoroughly realized that a large chunk of diplomatic endeavour encompasses economic
diplomacy. This is the age of data driven communication and information here plays a very significant
role. After being a commercial counsellor, I have to work and study on the process of trade facilitation
and help minimising trade disputes between the exporters and importers. I will also work on finding the
investment opportunity for my country. There are few emerging industries in Bangladesh of which the
shipbuilding industry has shown a great potential. I would like to work with the major shipbuilding
nation like South Korea and Japan in providing Bangladesh training and investment for that industry.
