Evidence: Cultural literacy around the world

When I was 20 I had the opportunity to travel and live in Mexico, for a few days I got to know
great places. I lived and worked there while studying cooking. Mexico is part of southern North
America, a representative, democratic, secular, and federal country. Their culture is
Mesoamerican, Aridoamerican, and Oasisamerican cultures. Day of the Dead, which is a sacred
day, it is linked to the Catholic celebrations of the Day of the All Souls and All Saints, offerings are
made with sugar skulls, bread of the dead (shaped like bones), flowers and pumpkin in blemish.
Therefore, it is forbidden not to celebrate this day and practice the customs that are had. Another
aspect that I found It is strange in the way they drink tequila with ease, in addition to the fact that
children are not allowed to socialize with children their own age who are not of his family. This
aspect is quite different in my country where children can talk freely with people your own age at
any time.

Regarding religion, 96.86% of the country's population practices Catholicism, which is the
dominant religion in that country. Therefore, they pray the rosary twice a day and attend the
temple, which is the place where they meet to pray at least once a week. They also pray from their
home or workplace if they don't. have time to go to church. This is also quite different as in my
country. people usually pray at night before going to sleep and most people only go to church on
Sunday.

I finally learned that they don't have holidays. This was quite difficult for me as I was used to
enjoying my free time on Saturdays and Sundays. Shocking, huh? I really enjoyed my time there
and had the opportunity to learn something about Mexico. I also I learned to see the world from a
different perspective. It was a big experience.
