Introduction
In this paper we will talk about what is the World of work, we will also talk about
what is work, its main differences and changes.
This world is constantly changing and evolving without us realising it and we will
have to adapt to it and manage to reconcile it.
The aim of this work is to show the main changes over the years, the main
differences between work and employment and also to show how the world of work
began.
3
1. What is Work?
Work is a set of activities carried out, it is the effort made by individuals in order to
achieve a goal.
It is work that makes the individual demonstrate actions, initiatives, develop skills. It
is with him that he will also be able to perfect them.
Its basic definition indicates that it is the measure of effort made by human beings.
For work, there are several types of contracts that man has to
follow both the employer and the contractor.
There are many possible forms of work, such as productive self-employment in the
liberal professions and commerce/trade, informal work for survival and servitude,
among others.
4
With the advent of the internet, today we have a new form of work which is online.
Online Work- where the person starts to work on their own, performing services
for people or companies without any kind of link.
This is what happens in working with the land, for example, each culture builds its
own way of planting and dealing with the land.
The world of work has existed for many years, since millennia, but it was only
during the industrial revolution, from the 17th century onwards, in Europe, that
work appeared, which accompanies the history of humanity.
5
Ancient Greece, was the basis was slavery. In the High Middle Ages, characterised
by feudalism, there was a strict regime of servitude, between feudal lords and their
slaves.
It is through work that technical and psychological skills, the relationship between
people and the search for economic and social goals are developed.
The current generation has had some difficulties to insert itself in the labour
market, it suffers from underemployment.
Children are thrown into the labour market to help their parents with household
bills, often in unhealthy situations and staying away from school.
However, the trends for the coming years are not only about new careers.
6
Another factor that cannot be ignored is the growing population of the elderly. For
globalization, in the world of work the ageing population and even climate change
are causing some professions that did not exist to start appearing, while others will
disappear.
Emotional intelligence
Critical thinking
Analytical thinking
Virtual collaboration
Negotiation
At this moment with the pandemic the world of work is greatly affected worldwide.
The world of work is being deeply affected by the global virus pandemic.
In addition to the threat to public health, the pandemic carries economic and social
impacts that affect the livelihoods and well-being of millions of people in the long
term.
At this stage, the way you are used to work is not the same because since the end
of 2019, there have been measures in place to enable you to go to work or in any
other situation.
7
From the beginning with the corona unemployment came to increase little by little,
or also the rapid teleworking regime where workers had to come home to work by
computer or even in companies being on lay-off.
The pandemic has forced businesses and consumers to quickly adopt new
behaviours that are very likely to remain.
We are currently experiencing an economic crisis that has come to affect our
population.
Institutions are constantly confronted with challenges that they have never
experienced before.
There are more and more companies going bankrupt and therefore the number of
unemployed is increasing, but this does not mean that there are no job offers or
outlets for those who are unemployed.
Even if people are vaccinated, it doesn't mean that at work they don't take personal
care of all the requirements that the institution or the company sends.
8
However, even if these technologies increase productivity and improve the
lives of human beings their use will take the place of some work activities that
are currently performed by man and also to the
advancement of technology the millions of jobs will
cease to exist with artificial intelligence and machines
It is quite difficult to know what will happen in the future when covid-19 ends if
it does, we all hope it ends so that it will fully or partially turn to the life that
people hope will happen.
Machines will take the place of human labour, which is not a big news.
However, jobs will not cease to exist: the activities will be adapted and, in this
way, we will share the space with technology.
Corporate education has been gaining more and more strength within
companies, which are very interested in keeping their teams aligned with the
new trends of the future.

7. Conclusion
Based on the analyses made throughout this work, it can be seen that the
world of work is constantly evolving and this also brings its disadvantages, as
several jobs are disappearing, thus creating more unemployed people.
10
Some jobs that used to exist in the past are also disappearing, and with all
that, the jobs that exist now may also disappear in the future.
More and more new work alternatives are being seen, such as online work.
