Preparation Print one copy of the activity on the following page for each pair of students
in your class

Instructions 1 Divide your class into pairs and give each pair a copy of the activity.

2 Explain that the mini dialogues can all be completed with words from the
vocabulary box. These words make expressions which have all appeared
in various modules of Hot Spot 4 and feature in the ‘Real English’ boxes
throughout the course.

3 In their pairs, students should decide what these expressions are (the
number of words in each expression is shown by the number of gaps),
and write their answers in the appropriate space on the bottom grid.

4 If they do this correctly, they will reveal a new four-word expression in


the shaded vertical column. This expression can be used to complete the
mystery sentence.

5 The first pair to reveal this expression is the winner.
