Did you know, that the average American youth spends 1,023 hours each year watching TV and

900 hours in school? This might be quite alarming to parents or guardians as they will
immediately take action and turn off the television as they say that “That this is bad for you as
your grades will take a nose dive.” I am here to speak for the body of our school on why
televisions can help students in education.

Firstly, according to recent studies, television shows can aid in the development of a child's
intellect. Certain educational programmes tailored to the learning needs of young children can
help them develop their cognitive skills. The perplexing fact is that youngsters who spend the
most of their time watching non-educational programmes perform poorly on tests when
compared to their peers. That is how some kids tend to actually get better while watching
television.

Secondly, a television can act as a teacher. Whatever your child is interested in, there is almost
certainly an instructional show about it. Television is an excellent way to expose your child to a
wide range of topics and to help them learn about subjects that they may not have been
exposed to at school. Television, on the other hand, can augment what children learn in school
and serve as a supplement to teaching youngsters about vital subjects.

Furthermore, televisions can be a source of inspiration. Even business gurus recognise the
power of persuasion, and shows including interviews with people who have excelled in their
industries have a favourable impact on children. It encourages students to improve their
performance and establish goals for themselves.

In conclusion, I think that a television can be beneficial if used correctly by kids because they
help the development of a kid’s intellect, acting as a teacher and can be a source of motivation.

Thank you!
