Lab Sheet-7 Section of Solids Set-D

Max Marks: 80 Tutorial-7

Q1. A square prism, base side 35 mm and a 65 mm axis length rests on its base on the HP with
all the sides of the base equally inclined to the VP. Different AIPs cut the prism in such way that
the true shape of the section is a rhombus of maximum size. Locate the cutting plane and draw
FV and the true shape of the section. (4+8+8 = 20 marks)

Q2. A pentagonal pyramid of side of base 25mm and height of axis 60 mm is resting on base
such that it’s one of the side remains perpendicular to VP and axis remains parallel to VP. It is
cut by a cutting plane which is inclined at angle of 45o with HP and 25mm on axis base. Draw
front view, sectional top view and side view. (4+8+8 = 20 marks)

Q3. A Hexagonal prism has a face on the H.P. and the axis parallel to the V.P. It is cut by a section
plane which makes an angle of 40o with VP and which cuts the axis at a point 15 mm from one of
its ends along the central line. Draw its sectional front view and the true shape of the section. The
side of base is 20 mm and height is 60mm. (10+10 = 20 marks)

Q4. A hexagonal pyramid of base side 20 mm and axis 50 mm long rests with its base on HP and
an edge of its base is perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to VP, inclined
at 30˚ to HP and passing through a point on the axis 14.5 mm below the apex. Draw the sectional
side view and sectional top view. (10+10= 20 marks)
