MEMO: Paid Time Off (PTO)

Starting September 1 2012 the city of Seattle is mandating all employers to give Paid Sick and Sick Time
(PSST). ALL LANDSCAPING is taking that one step further and giving all of its employees general PTO.

What you need to know:

For every 40 hours worked – 1 hour of PTO is accrued


You can only accrue 40 hours total per calendar year (Jan-Dec)
You may roll over up to 40 unused hours each calendar year

PTO can be used for:


Guidelines for PSST
1) Personal illness of preventive care
2) Care for a family member’s illness or preventative care (child, grandparent, parent, parent-in-law,
spouse and registered domestic partners)
3) Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking
4) Closure of workplace or child’s school or place of care by public official to limit exposure to infectious
biological toxin or hazardous material
What ALL LANDSCAPING will also allow
5) Vacation
6) Appointments
7) Whatever you choose

Facts
Of you miss a day you were normally scheduled, you will not be eligible for incentive even if you use PTO

On your paystub there will be an indication of how much you have. The office will also have a record.

You will be paid up to 10 hours each day that you choose to PTO.
The pay rate will be the same as your regular pay rate. Ex. If you are paid $10/hr your PTO will be paid at $10/hr

New employees begin accruing hours the day they start, however are not eligible to redeem hours until they been
employed with ALL LANDSCAPING for 180 calendar days

If you choose to use PTO, those hours will not count towards overtime. Ex you worked 34 hours Mon – Thurs
and chose to use 10 hours of PTO on Fri, will not get 4 hours of overtime.

Foreseeable absences – please fill out time off for request at least 10 days in advance and indicate whether or not
you would like to use PTO.

Unforeseeable absences – Call the office AND George ASAP and indicate whether or not you would like to use
PTO. If you are absent more than 3 consecutive days you will need documentation from a doctor or other
authority.

Using PTO cannot result in discipline except in the following circumstance:


Repeated “unforeseen absences” or a pattern of absences that precede or follow regular days off, or any other
pattern without valid reason.
