Our Project

This E-Booklet is created to spread the voice of the Youth Exchange Project “Step FORward To
NEET Youth” and also let the readers of this E-Booklet learn more about Erasmus + programme,
its aims, objectives, opportunities and possibilities for youth people.
Project is Co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union and JUGEND für
Europa, National Agency of Germany.
In today's reality, the youth unemployment problem is one of the major concerns for many
countries that has a negative influence not only on the welfare of young people but the whole
society. This devastatingly affects economic performance and social stability.
One of the most vulnerable groups of youth is young people who are not in education,
employment or training, known as NEET youth.
This seems logical since they lack skills which are required on labor markets no matter what kind
of job they may apply.
NEET youth are seriously in danger of youth marginalization and exclusion problems since they
stay out of all aspects which may involve them actively in society.
Given the magnitude of the problem, it is critically important to ensure that these youths are
engaged in employment, actively contributing to the development of their local communities and
nations.
In XXI century everyone agrees that developing transversal skills is very important and needed
for everyone but it is essential for NEET youth to be able to find jobs and escape from
unemployment problems.
Transversal Skills that are typically considered as not specifically related to a particular job, task,
academic discipline or area of knowledge and that can be used in a wide variety of situations and
work settings. For example, organizational skills.
Employers always value these skills because they can be used in so many ways in the workplace.
Since, person with well-developed these skills holds the tools, which they'll need to adapt to any
new job.
Communication, problem solving and teamwork are the best examples of Transversal skills and
competencies, because they can be used in any employment role, youth education or vocational
training. These skills help youth in retail Among the most desired transferable skills for the retail
sector are communication, customer service and teamwork.
That is why we decided to develop your NEET youth participants’ transversal skills and especially
be oriented more specifically on communication competence.
The AIM of this project was to develop the transversal skills of our NEET participants in order to
increase their possibility to be more suitable for labor markets and defeat unemployment problems
and, on the other hand, empower them to get back to active social life and get rid of life
experiences of youth marginalization or exclusion.
Accordingly, our project had the following objectives:
-To increase participants’ knowledge of Erasmus+ Programme and its Key Actions.
-To develop NEET youth's transversal skills
-To equip participants with Leadership and Team Management competences and methods.
-To equip youth with interpersonal skills: Receptiveness to Feedback, Relationship Management,
Work Ethic, Collaboration, Body Language and
-To make them more self- confident and team-workers by involving them into international
groups and fulfilling practical tasks on the project
-To improve soft and communication skills for better cooperation and negotiation.
-To equip youth by technical skills which help them to work more efficiently
- To encourage them to be actively involved in Erasmus + programme
This project was created especially for NEET youngsters who feel lack of opportunities to be
involved in local or international activities and belong different kind of fewer opportunity groups.
Accordingly, all of the participants of our project except group leaders represent one of the
following types of situation they face:
- Cultural differences (national or ethnic minorities, descendants of immigrants)
- Young people with social obstacles (coming from broken families, from foster homes )
- Educational difficulties (such as people with learning difficulties, people with poor school
performance and early school leavers)
- People experiencing economic obstacles (low income, dependence on social-welfare, long-term
unemployment).
- Geographical obstacles (coming from rural or isolated areas, from problematic urban
environment, from areas where public services are lacking)
We aimed and achieved a long-term impact on our lives and equip ourselves with the skills and
competencies which will last lifelong and will have a mushrooming effect. The mutual learning
process throughout the project helped us to develop new skills, ideas, and initiatives.
Our project included different types of Non-Formal Education Activities: Ice breaking and team
building games, National and International Group working sessions, project topic activities,
exploring NEET issues, problematic fields and solution finding actions, discussing Transversal
Skills and exploring it, exploration of interpersonal skills, dissemination and visibility activities,
drafting the project ideas, presentations of our countries local realities, role play games, etc.
What is NEET ?
NEET, an acronym for "Not in Education, Employment, or Training", refers to a person who is
unemployed and not receiving an education or vocational training. The classification originated
in the United Kingdom in the late 1990s, and its use has spread, in varying degrees, to other
countries and regions.

Transversal Skills
UNESCO defines transversal skills as:
“Skills that are typically considered as not specifically related to a particular job, task, academic
discipline or area of knowledge and that can be used in a wide variety of situations and work
settings (for example, organizational skills).”
These skills might also be called ‘soft’ or ‘transferrable’, because they are not specific to a particular
sector or job role. The term ‘transversal’ refers to the way these skills ‘cut across’ different tasks
and roles, just like a transversal line in geometry.
“Transversal skills are increasingly in high demand for learners to successfully adapt to changes
and to lead meaningful and productive lives.”
UNESCO gives six categories of transversal skills:
- Critical and innovative thinking - Interpersonal skills
- Intrapersonal skills -Global citizenship
- Media and information literacy -Others: problem solving, communication, teamwork and
leadership
Erasmus + Programme Opportunities
Erasmus+ is the EU Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period
2021-2027. Education, training, youth and sport are key areas that support citizens in their
personal and professional development. High quality, inclusive education and training, as well as
informal and non-formal learning, ultimately equip young people and participants of all ages with
the qualifications and skills needed for their meaningful participation in democratic society,
intercultural understanding and successful transition in the labour market. Building on the success
of the programme in the period 2014-2020, Erasmus+ strengthens its efforts to increase the
opportunities offered to more participants and to a wider range of organisations, focusing on its
qualitative impact and contributing to more inclusive and cohesive, greener and digitally fit
societies.

How to participate in Erasmus + projects?

One of the best platforms to find the participation opportunities to apply is SALTO, where
is The European Training Calendar. Here organizations announce the calls for the
participants. At the same time this platform suggests the vast information, TOOLKITS and
works in youth work field.

Facebook groups are very practical where NGOs announce open calls for participants or
searching for the partners and establishing communications. Here we suggest the list of the
active Facebook groups where you can add yourself and receive the information about the
participation opportunities:
