This is a very basic startup procedure for the UH1M......

Although not all of these stages are completely necessary, some of them are
essential and if missed, will prevent the starter motor from working, or worse
prevent the battery charging..... you might not notice there is a problem until you
loose all power mid flight...... just saying. It is probably best if you follow the
procedure below EXACTLY.

THERE IS ASWITCH ON THE MAIN CONSOLE TO TURN ON/OFF HINTS FOR STARTUP
THIS SWITCH IS USED TO RESET THE WHOLE STARTUP AND ENGINE TO OFF.....
ONLY USE IT IF PARKED SAFELY ON THE GROUND

1. Switch the battery on 'Power, BATT OFF/ON' (top panel).

2. Switch 'Reset Low RPM Warning' (centre panel).
3. Turn VM dial to 'MAIN GEN' (top panel).
4. Switch on 'MAIN GEN' switch and put on red cover (top panel).
5. Switch on 'Fuel ON/OFF' (centre panel).
6. Switch on the 'Fuel PUMP ON/OFF' (centre panel).
7. Switch on 'Hydraulics' (centre panel).
8. Switch on 'Force trim' (centre panel).
9. Throttle wide open (collective twist, PgUp).
10. Throttle back to idle (collective twist, PgDn). This ensures throttle is set to
idle.
11. StarterGen Switch to 'START' (top panel).
12. Hold 'START' button untill 68% RPM, then let go (main console, right).
12. Turn the VM dial to 'STBY GEN' (top panel).

14. Switch on Inverter to 'ON Main' (top panel).
15. Switch on Compass (main console).
16. Throttle to 100% (collective twist, PgUp).

Ready to fly

NOTE.... if the engine is run at full RPM (i.e. > 102% on the Main Console dial)
for long periods, the engine will overheat and cause damage.
