Why health insurance is important for the adult members of society
As we all know, health care can be very expensive. It can be a big financial burden to a person
especially when he or she suffers diseases that cannot be healed with just a tablet of paracetamol. If a
doctor advises for surgery operations, prescription drugs, and even laboratory examinations, we all know
that if this happens in a series, it is very costly. Because of the expensive treatments needed, one may not
follow the advice of the doctor which may lead to more a serious illness. So I think, even if one does not
see the need for health insurance as early as in their 20s, I think it is smart to make difficult financial
decisions ahead of time, by getting health insurance, before they get sick so that they will not feel the
financial burden in the future.
My parents also used to have this thinking that if they get health insurance and they do not get
sick, they are just wasting money. However, as advised by some of their friends, they pushed through it.
They kept in mind that even if none of us get into an accident, or if none of us have large health care costs,
or in dire need to use the health insurance benefits, my parents will still get a peace of mind knowing that,
if one of us gets sick, they will not be facing all those medical costs on their own.
So in general, having health insurance guarantees us that there will be financial support in case
we will face serious, unexpected accidents or illnesses that will lead to hospitalization. In my own
knowledge, health insurance is a type of insurance coverage that an insurance company agrees to
undertake a guarantee of compensation for the insured’s medical expenses. I also know that this health
insurance may either came from the benefits that one gets at work or from the personal choice of an
individual to be insured.
For the adult members of the society, it is important to get health insurance because as we all
know, they are the most vulnerable to any kind of diseases because of their weakening immune system.
If they unexpectedly get sick or injured, health insurance is there to help cover costs. Health insurance
can also be their safety net in case their families cannot cover the costs of their hospitalization.
In addition, I think it is important for the adult members of the society to get health insurance
because it keeps them from getting sick in the first place. Having health insurance makes it easier for them
to access routine and preventive health care services such as checkups, vaccines, laboratory examinations
and screenings. Some health insurance offers these routine and preventive health care that all plays a role
in keeping the adult population healthy. Specifically, having access to these preventive health care
services helps in keeping the adult population healthy by diagnosing any illness they have as soon as
possible.
