A. QUESTIONS:

1. What's this story about?

The story is about a young courageous boy named “Keesh”, who tries to
prove that his father was a great hunter and the savior of his community to prevent
hunger. On the other part of the story, it shows how the people around Keesh
believe from false beliefs and they even downgraded him just because he is too
young to be a hunter. However, Keesh was an intelligent boy so he managed to hunt
a huge polar bear. He proved himself that the beliefs on him aren’t true and he
showed people that he is a very skilled hunter like his father.

2. Why does the author tell us this story?

The author wrote “The Story of Keesh” for us to know and learn to not
discriminate against a person based on physical appearance or age. Jack London’s
intention is to give the readers the courage that they can do whatever the obstacles
they might face. He also wants the readers to remember that we must live by our
keen intelligence rather than false beliefs and superstitions.

3. What (if anything) do readers need to know about the author or the place and time
in which this story occurs?

The readers must know how to analyze a setting of a story, so that he/she can
evaluate information about the author, place and time. Readers must know what is
the main point of the story, why the author wrote it and what the author wants to tell
to the readers.

4. What impression does the story leave with you?

The story made me realize the importance of being brave in the middle of
being downgraded by someone else. It is the story about overcoming age
discrimination that teaches us the important of self-confidence and determination.
Furthermore, it also tells us to keep what we are doing right now and never mind
what others might say, just continue pursuing the things that you want to achieve.
