Why does the author begin his letter of exhortation with a contrast between Jesus and
angels? Why the need to prove Jesus is better than angels? Remembering that the
recipients of the Epistle were Jews brings understanding. When Hebrews was written

Challenge: Jesus was subject to temptation and experienced it and became fully

1. Read Hebrews 6:13-20. Explain how the hope from God is illustrated in verse 19a.
What does the Psalmist say in Psalm 62:5-6 regarding hope?
Day Two
1. Read Genesis 15:7-18. God passes through the slain animals in making a covenant
with Abraham. Abraham was a passive participant. The person(s) cutting the
covenant in effect says, “May the curse befalling these victims come upon me if I
am at all unfaithful to my promises” (Sacks 50). Can God be trusted to keep His
promises?

Day Three
1. Challenge: Think of the last wedding you attended. Read Genesis 15:9-10, 17 to
see how the covenant pieces were laid out. There was an aisle for God to pass
through…something is on either side…blood happens (when marriage is
consummated)…wat are your thoughts regarding the similarities?
2. Read Hebrews 6:19b and write where the hope from God enters.
3. Why was entry into the Most Holy Place so restricted? Lev. 16.
Day Four
1. Why is our hope from God able to enter “inner sanctuary behind the curtain” vs. 20?
3. This is what allows us to come into the presence of God. Write something to Him
that you are thankful for.

We began Hebrews looking at the word “better” because it’s a key word in the book.
Look through the whole book and see what betters you find. List them with the
Scriptural references.
Day Two
Over 40% of the book of Hebrews is about some aspect of Jesus’ intercessory ministry.
If you can—from memory, list the reasons He is a better priest as we’ve seen several
times (from Hebrews 7 recently).

2. Read Mark 16:19 to see where Jesus went after His resurrection.
3. Personal: I John 2:1-2 says Jesus’ presence accomplishes something on our behalf.
