This map shows the sea called the West Philippine Sea also known as the
Scarborough Shoal, the Philippines and the China. Between these 2 countries we
can find the sea of the West Philippines or the South China Sea.
Reasons why the Philippines has the right to claim the West
Philippines Sea:
 The right under the United Nation 1982 convention of the law of the
sea(UNCLOS)
This right gives the country their claim but not grant sovereignty in which I
think that they should grant sovereignty because they have the right on the
Sea.
 They have the right to have the rich marine diversity of this sea, in which it
provides fishes for filling Filipino fishing vessels and plates.
 We have the right for the oils and gas found in the West Philippines Sea,
which is about 7 billion barrels of oil and 900 trillion cubic feet of natural
gas.
 Right for the territory in which we risk the ceding to China’s vast swathes of
our national territory, shows that they have 55% larger land area than
Philippines which is giving us high risk for territory.
Possible Impacts
 The Philippines would have a strong, productive and equality ties and
mutual respect from each and every country without the claim of it.
 No damage to the country, while claiming the West Philippines Sea we
would always do it respectfully and with no injuries or damage to our
property. Claiming the West Philippines Sea is a must but engaging in a war
to claim it would give a damage to the property in which the country is
willing to not engage in a war and let them claim it if they want to.
 It would promote peace and security to the country, it would decrease
tension for the country giving them more opportunities to develop it.
