Allen Bradley Ports and Protocols

The table below shows what protocols and ports are used and supported by the Matrikon® Server for
Allen Bradley PLCs:

SUPPORTED DEVICE SUPPORTED PORTS

EthernetIP Ethernet to
Serial (DF1) DH+/DH485 (CIP) 1761 to Serial
CompactLogix NO NO YES NO

ControlLogix NO NO YES NO

MicroLogix YES YES YES YES

PLC 5xx YES YES YES YES

Powerflex NO NO YES NO

SLC5xx YES YES YES YES

Legend:

YES - Supported and has been tested in the Matrikon lab • NO - Not supported.

Notes:
1. Matrikon OPC Server for Allen Bradley PLCs supports DH+/DH485 connections using one of these methods:
- KF2/KF3 RS-232 adaptor
- ControlLogix DHRIO module
The items marked YES for DH+/DH485 can use any of these methods.
2. PKTX card no longer supported
3. The Matrikon OPC Server for Allen Bradley PLCs does not support ControlNet nor DeviceNet.
4. Program tags not supported. Should a Program Tag be required via the OPC Server, it is recommended the
PLC be programmed to map the required Program Tag(s) to accessible Controller Tag(s)

Notes:
1
Some version 20 firmware have been found to be defective and are not supported. See the Rockwell /
Allen Bradley website for more information about version 20 firmware.

2
Although ControlLogix Firmware Versions 21-23 have not been specifically tested, they are protocol-
compatible with version 24

Newer firmware versions of controller types may work with the MatrikonOPC Server for Allen Bradley
PLC’s. However, they have not been tested explicitly in the lab environment.
