Extension Activities
1. Pair this activity with the book Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. Click HERE to
see more activities inspired by this book!
2. Print out two sets of the animal movement cards and use them to play
Memory or Go Fish.
3. Learn the sign for each animal in American Sign Language.
4. Have your students name the beginning letter and sound of each animal’s
name.
5. Choose two animals. Have your students talk about how they are alike and
how they are different. Make a Venn diagram together to show how to
compare two things.
6. Put these animal movement cards in a sensory bin. Great sensory bin fillers
include rice, beans, dried pasta, shredded paper, or colorful pom poms.
7. Have students sort these animals into different groups. Some examples
include: number of legs, numbers of arms, where they live, how they move,
etc.
8. Use the black/white version of the animal movement cards and have your
