Analysing a Music Magazine Cover

 The title of magazine is called ‘Vibe’. It named this, so it more relatable.

 Their target audience is young urban followers of hip-hop culture aged 18-34.

 Kendrick Lamar is on the front. He is on the front cover because he is an idol

to young adults, with 50 great albums.

 A mid shot has been used. I believe a mid-shot has been used to show off
Kendrick’s watch and chain, to give off the idea of how rich, he is.

 The artist looks serious and is holding his hands in the air, to show of his
watch. The type of relationship the artist is trying to have with its reader is a
strictly business only one.

 The anchorage texts says ‘The New God MC’. This implies that he is the
‘Main Character’.

 The message that he is trying to give out the fact that he is rich and famous
and can guide upcoming artist.

 There are no groups being represented in the cover

 The buzzword used is ’50 Greatest Albums’. This has an effect on the reader
because when they see this, they think that he is a successful artist.
 The title block is transparent which means they want to show off the cover
artist. The title block is red, which is very vibrant and easy to catch the eye.

 The cover line ‘The New God MC’. Implies that he is the ‘Main Character’.

 It seems that there are slogan/strapline in the cover

 The colours used for the text are black and red. These colours are used
because the background is white, which means it is easier to distinguish.

 The font of the text is a bit unprofessional because it is a hip-hop magazine
