Seldom are we engaged in hostage negotiations; regardless, Voss' insight into the world
of high-stakes negotiations offers the audience tools they can take with them through
every aspect of life.

Easily one of the best books that I have read over the last few years. Honestly, in my
opinion, the title does not suit the book very well. While the title is applicable, and it
does highlight the critical component about negotiating, it misleads readers to think
they this book is only about high stress negotiating. The reason I draw issue with this is
because this book is so much more useful than that. It is perfect for every day
interactions, from the grocery store to the barber, the gym, and everything in between.
We are constantly negotiating, whether we realize it or not, and this book helps to
explain how we can tweak those interactions to be more in our favor. It helps you gain

Excellent book by a former FBI-CIA hostage negotiator. Many great insights and debunks the Yes-Yes
problems. Also, throws out the "remove the emotion" concept in Getting to Yes.
