Infrared sensor(IR)

• In particular, the infrared sensor is an

optoelectronic device capable of
measuring infrared electromagnetic
radiation from bodies in its field of view.
All bodies emit a certain amount of
radiation, which is invisible to our eyes
but not to these electronic devices,
since it is in the range of the spectrum
just below visible light.
Characteristics in general
• LED diode

• Infrared sensor schematic

• Photodiode
Characteristics "Infrared
proximity module"

• Infrared sensor: Infrared LED 5mm

emitter and receiver
• This infrared module is used for
obstacle detection in robotic carts,
or in bands for the proximity of an
object.
• Compatible with most existing
microcontrollers.
• Detection distance: 2 to 15cm
• It has a trimpot to adjust sensitivity
• Working voltage: 3.3 to 5VDC
• Output type: Digital, 0 or 1 logic
• Compact size: 32mm x 15mm x
15mm
PURPOSE/FUNC
• Infrared sensors are specially designed for detection,
classification and positioning of objects; detection of
shapes, colors and surface differences, even under
extreme environmental conditions.

• Domestic

• Medical and biological sciences

• Surveillance or security cameras

Light
Dependent
Resistors (LDR)
CHARACTERISTICS
• Is a one type of resistor whose resistance
varies depending on the amount of light
falling on its surface.

• Is made with a semiconductor material with

a high resistance. It has a high resistance
because there are very few electrons that
are free and able to move
PURPOSE/FUNCTION
• Are often used in electronic circuit designs
where it is necessary to detect the presence
or the level of light.

• As light falls on the semiconductor, the light

photons are absorbed by the semiconductor
lattice and some of their energy is transferred
to the electrons
