To be rewarded with the allyship of the LGBT community one doesn’t have to identify with any

specific sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

We bring you certain ways in which you can be in alliance with this community:

1. Queer literacy
 In order to work for the LGBT community one must educate themselves about the range of
sexuality on the LGBT spectrum, to have a more visceral understanding.

2. Appropriate pronouns
 It is essentially important to stay acquainted and updated with the LGBT lexicon, to avoid
disrespecting anyone or their gender/sexual orientation.

3. Coming out
 Be patient and listen to them empathetically.
 Do not take their confessions personally; it doesn’t that they have a crush on you.
 Avoid giving political or religions views
 Try to make them feel as indifferent as it is.
 When someone comes out to you, you can never stand on the pedestal and narrate their
story.

4.Make contributions that count

 Plunge against prejudice, show up wherever/whenever it counts.

 Avoid clicking their pictures painting them as some exotic creatures.
 Try voicing their views with utter clarity, instead of simply propagating the rainbow or the
unicorn that fails to personify the plight of their struggle.

5.Mentorship

 Lead an example for all those around you to be compassionate accepting towards people
from the LGBT community.
 Amplifying their agendas whenever an opportunity shows up, to increase their inclusivity
amongst the mainstream.
